Thanks for checking out my page! My name is Ken Massalski, and here you will find all things relating to my journey as a teacher.

Growing up in Japan and learning to speak English and Japanese has given me a unique perspective and compassion to those learning a foreign language – especially when their native language shares almost no similarities to English. My hope is to make learning English enjoyable, engaging, and easy to understand.

I have been exposed to a variety of teaching opportunities spanning many subjects these past couple of years. Last summer, I had the privilege of working at Eagle Bay Camp as a cabin leader, where I  taught the Bible, outdoor skills, and life advice to the campers every day. I currently tutor math and physics, and teach piano on the side. I am also a volunteer for the youth ministry at my local church, where I get to teach the youth that attend the group.

At the moment, I am nearing the end of my Bachelor of Science in physics program, and I am also enrolled in the Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) program at Thompson Rivers University.

I plan to use what I will learn from the TESL program by teaching English in Japan as a means of saving up for flight school, as I want to become a pilot. I hope that by taking the TESL program, I will not only learn to teach English well, but become a better teacher overall.
